Norma Johnston

Norma has 20 years’ experience of leading high-profile communication campaigns for human rights and development, including as Communications Director for Plan International and Amnesty International UK.

As part of Plan’s International Management Team she led operations in 45 developing countries. She has also advised the WHO on its Roll Back Malaria campaign, been Chief Executive of the Ramblers’ Association, and is on the Governing Council of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

Recent work includes facilitation of development of global avian influenza communications for the World Health Organization, UNICEF and FAO; and review of tsunami communications for UNICEF HQ. In Ghana and Nigeria devising national strategies for behavioral change in relation to Guinea Worm Disease. For World Health Organization worked with fundraising colleague to deliver global resource mobilization strategy for Global Resource Mobilization Team (GRMT) in Geneva.

Norma has recently headed up the RLSB’s capital appeal for a new £10m centre for blind children. Management consultancy also includes organisational reviews and performance management.
