Over the last 26 years Helen has gained considerable experience in developing not for profit relationship fundraising strategies to substantially increase income.
She has worked in the UK and across Europe for a range of major charities including the NSPCC’s Full Stop Campaign, Age UK and the British Heart Foundation’s Mending Broken Hearts Campaign.
Helen specialises in raising major gifts from individuals, charitable trusts, companies and institutional sources (£5,000 to £1 million plus). She is a highly skilled Fundraising Consultant focusing on campaign feasibility studies, interim management, training and coaching. She is recognised within the sector as a leader in high value fundraising.
Helen’s skills include establishing strong external senior volunteer networks for peer to peer fundraising, influencing multiple and complex stakeholder groups, leading on, and achieving buy-in to income generation strategies, coaching and building collegial teams, managing budgets, change and risk.
Her substantive achievements come from working strategically and creatively with high value prospects. She works to inspire donors about the charity’s work and to secure the largest donation. She works closely with the Board of Trustees, the CEO and key senior stakeholders to influence at the highest level to support the donors interests and secure a major gift.
Helen has personally set up and managed Fundraising Boards to achieve high level networking and access to contacts, and to support the gift solicitation process.
Her early career focused on supporting the implementation of new business strategies for ICT companies, Fujitsu and Sema Group, in the City of London and across Europe. She began her fundraising career in 1992 when she joined World Vision as Major Donor Manager and established their first major donor programme, following training in the United States.
Helen is a member of the Institute of Fundraising. She has a degree in Business Studies & French from Greenwich University, and a Diploma from the Institute of Marketing. She is a Trustee and Deputy Chair of the charity, Best Beginnings, a member of the Institute of Fundraising Convention Board and joint founder and Co-Chair of the Major Gifts Leadership Group.
