Client Testimonials

The British Academy Development Team worked with Bill King and his colleagues from the International Fundraising Consultancy on an audit of fundraising activity at the Academy.  The progress which took about three months was constructive and positive.  It is always helpful to have a fresh view point and the IFC provided exactly that with new insight into new approaches and confirmation of the value of the current focus of fundraising.  Their analysis has helped to inform future fundraising planning and to support further investment in the Development Team.

“Sarah Gray was commissioned by the Women’s Refuge, she was given a target which she comfortably exceeded. She approached her task with sensitivity – because of the client group – and with vigour and determination. I have commissioned Sarah previously – hence my confidence – I can thoroughly recommend her without any reservation.”

IFC has deep knowledge and experience of fundraising and made an immediately positive impact in preparations for our fundraising campaign.  With effervescence and enthusiasm, Sarah was highly motivating in building the case for support and setting ambitious but achievable goals for giving.  With a creative flair for communicating the impact of a campaign, as well as the project management skills for detailed planning, Sarah was instrumental in enabling the Morley Team to make rapid progress towards launching our appeal

I have worked closely with the IFC for several years. They were instrumental in producing our first Fundraising Strategy, which led to the securing of significant funding for our new heritage centre. IFC are supporting us again now with securing corporate sponsorships, applications to trusts and reaching high net worth individuals. The focus of their involvement is in meeting our current fundraising targets and long-term sustainability. We have gone back to IFC not only because we trust them but because they understand our organisation and have become part of the team.

The British Academy commissioned IFC to review the fundraising potential of seven British International Institutes and recommend a strategy for their fundraising activities, both collectively and individually.

This was a complex brief which required tact and sensitivity. The fundraising capacity and capability varied greatly, so a ‘one size fits all approach’ was inappropriate. The international dimension, and the tight timetable for the commission, added further complexity.

IFC met these challenges admirably and delivered a clear, thorough and thoughtful strategy  for short, medium and longer-term action. The report was delivered to time and we were impressed by the professionalism of the IFC team throughout the process.

IFC provided a very professional service. They brought in wide ranging experience of the most successful fundraising strategies, researching the brief carefully so they could tailor their advice to suit our specific needs.

On behalf of The Lifeboat Fund’s Trustees may I thank you for the delivery of a very helpful and thorough report of the charity’s strategic review. When the Trustees met in October, they expressed praise for James Finnie and Bill King for undertaking a difficult project while striving to please their client. We appreciated the flexibility and diligence applied by James and Bill; their additional input to the final report following our interim feedback gave us a good foundation from which to move forward with our identified priorities for action. The Trustees agreed in October on the next steps they would take to develop the charity and its operations as recommended in the report, and we look forward to seeing the growth we were seeking taking shape.

Bill King trained us in various forms of fundraising, and helped us understand the fundraising scenario in the UK. He helped us realise that our immediate focus should be on developing our Trusts and Foundations work and, with IFC’s expertise, we are now able to plan our 3 year strategy and hope to raise substantial funds for our programmes internationally.

The IFC team worked with us over several months, to help us create a vision and strategy to maximise the fundraising potential for our theatrical show, Goodbye Barcelona.

They helped us focus on and target likely potential donors, and plan and prepare critical fundraising events with laser like precision; whenever we needed last minute advice or help, they were always available (to our great relief). Thanks to their expertise and guidance, we received the funding and media attention which ensured a first production in London, and to enable the project to move on to the next stage, which is second production abroad. I can wholeheartedly recommend their excellent services without reservation.

Bill King and IFC worked with us over a number of months and not only coached us in the development of our fundraising work, but delivered a professional and realistic fundraising strategy. This now has given us the confidence to understand what is required to undertake a fundraising campaign (both in terms of skills and resources) and our likelihood of success. Both the company and Bill himself were always available to answer a range of questions as well as provide much needed insight.

IFC was chosen as the ‘consultant of choice’ for a World Animal Protection initiative to identify the potential income that could be secured from major donors and institutional funders in Europe and recommend the changes required to achieve it. After just a few interviews with key staff, the IFC team correctly assessed the organisation’s key opportunities and challenges and seemed to understand World Animal Protection ‘from the inside’. Their report back to World Animal Protection was very thorough as was the methodology used to produce it, all of which gave credibility to their recommendations. IFC’s senior leadership was very much involved and on hand at a moment’s notice to answer our questions and provide additional context. The IFC team were consummate professionals, and I would certainly rehire them for this or a similar project – the ultimate test

Fundraising is a new area of activity for Alton College and the support and advice from IFC for our £3.1m capital campaign has been invaluable, right from feasibility study through to successful conclusion of the campaign. The expertise of John Baguley and Bill King along with other IFC associates has helped the College meet the fundraising target to enable us to construct a world-class engineering and design technology centre.

As the new chair of an important advocacy organisation I have had to try and learn about fund-raising all too quickly. So we organised to have John Baguley come and spend a morning with me, the staff and the new CEO to help us liberate the fund-raisers within. John is wise, clear and tolerant and we came away feeling much more able to go about the business of engaging with wealthy potential donors and coming away with something other than a flea in our ears.

John Baguley has helped save our small Charity! We have been working with him for about 10 years. He first came on board when we were weeks away from closing, through his guidance we were able to stave off closure and start to develop a whole range of funding strategies that have stabilised our charity,  increased our donor base (both major and minor) and helped strengthen our infrastructure. We are now in the best position we have ever been in and I owe much of that to John’s continued help and support. He is great!

We have worked with IFC on two very different initiatives and each time we have been very impressed with their professionalism and expertise. Their advice has always been considered and timely providing our team with the support that we needed.

The Fire Fighters Charity worked with IFC on a Capital Appeal for the Charity’s new multi-million therapy centre for injured firefighters and burns survivors. The feasibility report and strategy they provided us with has been the catalyst for launching the appeal and making it a success.

We have found IFC’s service to be excellent. They offer a professional and flexible service from advising on bid and project development, to undertaking research and writing bids. They have bought a valuable external perspective to our fundraising work, and we have benefited from their extensive experience and sound guidance. IFC supported our team to develop a number of proposals including major BIG Lottery bids (Reaching Communities and Community Libraries). 2 out of 3 have been successful so far, bringing in over 1.6 million to our organisation

Stars Foundation’s efforts to understand and engage with potential co-funders in Latin America were significantly advanced through Karina Sandova’s excellent work.  Karina brought extensive networks, robust research and represented Stars very effectively through first contacts with stakeholders in the region.  We would not hestitate to commission her again and indeed look forward to doing so.
