She has particular expertise in planned giving, endowments, donor recognition, and developing and implementing strategic and marketing plans. She has an excellent grasp of the technical aspects of planned gifts and is skillful at soliciting and securing major outright and deferred gifts.
Her successes include heading up a Planning Giving Program for the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation that increased future gifts by 200% to over 300 expectancies. She also provided leadership and direction relating to a $100 million endowment campaign, which had secured over $65 million in endowed gifts at the time of her departure from the organization. Sue also managed a highly successful direct mail program for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, which generated $2 million with profits of 50% in its first two years of operation. She has also managed successful corporate, foundation and telemarketing programs during her career.
As a consultant, she has conducted fundraising audits, developed strategic plans, provided training and helped organizations plan and launch fundraising campaigns and planned giving programs.
Other organisations Sue has worked with include Nature Canada, Youth Science Canada, Arts Ottawa East, Ashbury College Foundation, Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation, Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health, Independent Living Canada, Motorcycle Ride for Dad, Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Foundation, Physical & Health Education Canada and St. John Ambulance Canada. She has also mentored staff at the Aga Khan Foundation, Royal Ottawa Hospital Foundation, and Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation, and made presentations on planned giving to a number of associations and organizations over the years.
