“I have worked closely with the IFC for several years. They were instrumental in producing our first Fundraising Strategy, which led to the securing of significant funding for our new heritage centre. “IFC are supporting us again now with securing corporate sponsorships, applications to trusts and reaching high net worth individuals. The focus of their involvement is in meeting our current fundraising targets and long-term sustainability. We have gone back to IFC not only because we trust them but because they understand our organisation and have become part of the team.”
The British Academy commissioned IFC to review the fundraising potential of seven British International Institutes and recommend a strategy for their fundraising activities, both collectively and individually.
This was a complex brief which required tact and sensitivity. The fundraising capacity and capability varied greatly, so a ‘one size fits all approach’ was inappropriate. The international dimension, and the tight timetable for the commission, added further complexity.
IFC met these challenges admirably and delivered a clear, thorough and thoughtful strategy for short, medium and longer-term action. The report was delivered to time and we were impressed by the professionalism of the IFC team throughout the process.
“IFC provided a very professional service. They brought in wide ranging experience of the most successful fundraising strategies, researching the brief carefully so they could tailor their advice to suit our specific needs”
“On behalf of The Lifeboat Fund’s Trustees may I thank you for the delivery of a very helpful and thorough report of the charity’s strategic review. When the Trustees met in October, they expressed praise for James Finnie and Bill King for undertaking a difficult project while striving to please their client. We appreciated the flexibility and diligence applied by James and Bill; their additional input to the final report following our interim feedback gave us a good foundation from which to move forward with our identified priorities for action. The Trustees agreed in October on the next steps they would take to develop the charity and its operations as recommended in the report, and we look forward to seeing the growth we were seeking taking shape.”
“Bill King trained us in various forms of fundraising, and helped us understand the fundraising scenario in the UK. He helped us realise that our immediate focus should be on developing our Trusts and Foundations work and, with IFC’s expertise, we are now able to plan our 3 year strategy and hope to raise substantial funds for our programmes internationally.”
“The IFC team worked with us over several months, to help us create a vision and strategy to maximise the fundraising potential for our theatrical show, Goodbye Barcelona.
They helped us focus on and target likely potential donors, and plan and prepare critical fundraising events with laser like precision; whenever we needed last minute advice or help, they were always available (to our great relief). Thanks to their expertise and guidance, we received the funding and media attention which ensured a first production in London, and to enable the project to move on to the next stage, which is second production abroad. I can wholeheartedly recommend their excellent services without reservation.”
“Bill King and IFC worked with us over a number of months and not only coached us in the development of our fundraising work, but delivered a professional and realistic fundraising strategy. This now has given us the confidence to understand what is required to undertake a fundraising campaign (both in terms of skills and resources) and our likelihood of success. Both the company and Bill himself were always available to answer a range of questions as well as provide much needed insight. “
“IFC was chosen as the ‘consultant of choice’ for a World Animal Protection initiative to identify the potential income that could be secured from major donors and institutional funders in Europe and recommend the changes required to achieve it. After just a few interviews with key staff, the IFC team correctly assessed the organisation’s key opportunities and challenges and seemed to understand World Animal Protection ‘from the inside’. Their report back to World Animal Protection was very thorough as was the methodology used to produce it, all of which gave credibility to their recommendations. IFC’s senior leadership was very much involved and on hand at a moment’s notice to answer our questions and provide additional context. The IFC team were consummate professionals, and I would certainly ‘rehire’ them for this or a similar project – the ultimate test.”
“Fundraising is a new area of activity for Alton College and the support and advice from IFC for our £3.1m capital campaign has been invaluable, right from feasibility study through to successful conclusion of the campaign. The expertise of John Baguley and Bill King along with other IFC associates has helped the College meet the fundraising target to enable us to construct a world-class engineering and design technology centre.”
“As the new chair of an important advocacy organisation I have had to try and learn about fund-raising all too quickly. So we organised to have John Baguley come and spend a morning with me, the staff and the new CEO to help us liberate the fund-raisers within. John is wise, clear and tolerant and we came away feeling much more able to go about the business of engaging with wealthy potential donors and coming away with something other than a flea in our ears.”
“John Baguley has helped save our small Charity! We have been working with him for about 10 years. He first came on board when we were weeks away from closing, through his guidance we were able to stave off closure and start to develop a whole range of funding strategies that have stabilised our charity, increased our donor base (both major and minor) and helped strengthen our infrastructure. We are now in the best position we have ever been in and I owe much of that to John’s continued help and support. He is great!”
“We have worked with IFC on two very different initiatives and each time we have been very impressed with their professionalism and expertise. Their advice has always been considered and timely providing our team with the support that we needed.”
IFC Netherlands and Helen went above and beyond their remit to advise, nurture and where necessary project manage not only a launch of sponsorship packages at the CPhI world Wide event, but also to help launch the very first Community Engagement program.
As we continued to work together more and more was asked of IFC and they continued to support and give great advice and guidance without question.
We would advise any corporate organisation looking to develop their Corporate Social Responsibility policy to contact IFC as their knowledge, guidance and never faltering support helped hugely in getting this project off the ground successfully. We look forward to working with them further on the next stage of CSR development.
The CCPA is grateful to Mena for her counsel and commitment in helping us to develop our fundraising capacity. In particular, her knowledge and experience were essential to understanding how and where we needed to grow our fundraising program, and in the hiring of our development officer. Mena is a skilled fundraiser whose services we would highly recommend to other non-profits.
“The Fire Fighters Charity worked with IFC on a Capital Appeal for the Charity’s new multi-million therapy centre for injured firefighters and burns survivors. The feasibility report and strategy they provided us with has been the catalyst for launching the appeal and making it a success.”
“We have found IFC’s service to be excellent. They offer a professional
and flexible service – from advising on bid and project development, to
undertaking research and writing bids. They have bought a valuable
external perspective to our fundraising work, and we have benefited from
their extensive experience and sound guidance. IFC supported our team
to develop a number of proposals including major BIG Lottery bids
(Reaching Communities and Community Libraries). 2 out of 3 have been
successful so far, bringing in over 1.6 million to our organisation.”
“I was glad to be able to speak to you personally today and to let you know how very pleased we have been with Mandie McKeown’s work for Afghanaid.
She has successfully put together a strategy for us which the board approved in two meetings in November. She has helped us define the different roles of the staff and taken a central role in arranging the recruitment ofa new UK Director, Dominic O’Reilly, who will be taking up the post in early January. I would particularly like to commend the way she has combined her work on the strategy with the continuing management of the fund-raising work and theexcellent relations she has developed with our staff.”
Mena has been a tremendous resource and fantastic consultant in the three years I have known her. Though the IFC, she runs a monthly fundraising seminar focused on sharing ideas and solutions for local not-for-profits. Her diverse and comprehensive fundraising experience has provided her with the ability to assess situations quickly and make sound recommendations to enhance fundraising success.
After attending these sessions for one year, I approached her to consult directly with my organization at the time (Community Radio Fund of Canada) to help develop a fundraising strategy and key materials, including a case for support and foundation proposal template. As I expected, I found Mena to be extremely competent and enjoyable to work with. She is bright, innovative, and dependable.
Over the years, Mena has proven to be one of the few people I can really talk to about fundraising – from strategy details to relationship building, from donor retention to not-for-profit organizational realities – she knows it all. Her knowledge and experience fuels her wisdom. Combined with her work ethic and personality, I do not hesitate to place my trust in her
We first met Helen at the International Fundraising Consultancy’s First Friday Fundraiser where they were hosting a workshop on a subject relevant to our organisation. We asked Helen to do a workshop on the subject specifically for Oxfam Novib. Helen put together a professional and completely appropriate workshop which fitted our needs and requirements exactly. We found the workshop to be not only incredibly informative with a well thought out presentation, but also fulfilled our requirement of getting different departments to work together and listen to each other – no mean task!
We would urge any charity large or small to attend the First Friday Fundraisers Sessions which take place the first Friday of every month and would highly recommend International Fundraising Consultancy to work with you on fulfilling your charity or not for profit’s needs
IFC consultants are enthusiastic about every client and you really feel like they care about your cause. Experienced and empathetic, IFC consultants encourage new ideas and initiatives and try to take each charity ‘out of the box’ to lead to new and inspiring fundraising gains. The infectious enthusiasm IFC has for fundraising helps charities large and small when things are tough or the organisation as lost sight of the main goals. Encouraging, interesting, enthusiastic and highly experienced, I am happy to recommend IFC to any charity, large or small, Dutch or International.
I was looking for some very practical training on grant writing for the arts and had the immense pleasure of organizing a session with Mena for me and my colleagues. Mena has a unique combination of great content and great delivery!!! The training went well beyond the ‘how to’ and challenged us to think and write strategically. The session took us from very insightful and critical knowledge sharing to practical templates and tools that got us building the skeleton of our grants then and there. It was one of the most beneficial training sessions I have ever attended on the subject. Mena has a wealth of experience and knowledge that she can easily communicate; she is analytical, strategic, and knows how to lead you to optimal outcomes.
IFC hosted a day of brainstorming and training for Appsterdam. We were very impressed with the professionalism and knowledge of the IFC consultants. Information was interesting and relevant and was explained in a fun and encouraging way. IFC renewed enthusiasm to our team and everyone felt that they had not only learned a great deal but also had the knowledge and enthusiasm to begin reaching our fundraising and organization goals. We would recommend IFC to any non-profit organization.
Mena has been an integral part of the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre’s new fundraising strategy. Because of her hard work, expertise, creativity and dedication, we are much further down the path of embarking upon a much more diverse fundraising programme than we would have been otherwise. With her assistance, we have been able to identify new fundraising opportunities and fine tune what we are doing to ensure the most efficient and effective use of our resources. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mena to any non-profit organzation seeking to hone its fundraising strategy, and would be happy to further discuss my experience working with her to anyone who may be interested in her services
The IFC hosted a marketing and fundraising workshop in order to thoroughly investigate our organization from the inside out and to understand completely what we wanted to achieve from the marketing and fundraising. The workshop not only was interesting, insightful and an eye opener to all of the Executive Council who attended, but also inspiring and action orientated. We finished the workshop understanding a lot more about the world of marketing and fundraising and what we needed to do in order to achieve our goals.
Stars Foundation’s efforts to understand and engage with potential co-funders in Latin America were significantly advanced through Karina Sandoval’s excellent work. Karina brought extensive networks, robust research and represented Stars very effectively through first contacts with stakeholders in the region. We would not hestitate to commission her again and indeed look forward to doing so.
The British Academy Development Team worked with Bill King and his colleagues from the International Fundraising Consultancy on an audit of fundraising activity at the Academy. The progress which took about three months was constructive and positive. It is always helpful to have a fresh view point and the IFC provided exactly that with new insight into new approaches and confirmation of the value of the current focus of fundraising. Their analysis has helped to inform future fundraising planning and to support further investment in the Development Team.
